Mark oversees a staff of over 100 experts in Information & Communication Technologies, Telecommunications, Clinical & Medical Informatics and Biomedical Engineering. He has been involved with numerous projects at a regional and provincial level, including work on electronic health records, and provides IT leadership to five other hospitals and the Local Health Integration Network (LHIN). Mark is the eHealth Lead and Chief Information Officer for the Hamilton Niagara Haldimand Brant LHIN where he oversees the coordination and strategic development of eHealth solutions for the LHIN, and is also Vice President and Chief Information Officer for Hamilton Health Sciences and St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton. Mark was named a 2014 Premier 100 IT Leader by Computerworld for his IT leadership and vision. He was also awarded the 2011 Health Care Chief Security Office of the Year, by the Editors of SC Canada Magazine at the SC Canada Congress, Data Security Conference and Expo (June 2011).
Director, HITS Client Services
Kareem brings more than 20 years of experience in Engineering and Information Technology in various technical, consulting, and management roles. As Director for HITS, Kareem is responsible for executing the vision and leading the strategic direction for HITS, and ensuring that we deliver quality and value for all IT-related services for the various business and clinical units, internally and externally. His skill sets include negotiating, developing and nurturing vendor relationships and software contracts to achieve operational efficiencies and cost savings. Kareem brings expertise in advancing strategic initiatives, conducting operational reviews, and recruiting, leading and building teams in a rapidly changing environment.
Director, HITS Informatics
Chris leads a dedicated group of Informaticists and Systems Professionals in advancing the adoption of the Electronic Health Record within the organization and across the LHIN. Chris has significant experience leading complex healthcare change initiatives. She is a Registered Nurse, and also holds graduate degrees in Education Science and Business Administration. She has a Clinical Faculty appointment with the McMaster University School of Nursing as an Assistant Professor.
Jackie has worked at Hamilton Health Sciences for more than 20 years. She began her career as an Applications Specialist at the Hamilton General Hospital, then worked in outpatient clinics for a number of years, then moved back to an Applications Specialist role at St. Mary's General Hospital in Kitchener. Today Jackie is Manager of Applications and eHealth Solutions for HITS and is responsible for leading a team of application support analysts, clinical informatics specialists, and web application developers to meet the information systems needs of the organization from a support, integration, and development perspective. She posesses extensive knowledge of the Meditech system and how it integrates with all the other information systems in our complex healthcare environment.
Manager, Projects & Portfolio Services
Kim is a versatile and creative leader with over 30 years of experience in Information Technologies. She has held a series of progressive positions across the Services and Financial sectors and moved to the Public Sector/Healthcare in 1998 when she joined Hamilton Health Sciences. She is currently responsible for the Project and Portfolio Management Office team (PPMO) including operational management of IT Security. She combines strong planning, implementation and team building skills with a proven track record of delivering on results. She is a 'change agent' who constantly engages in process redesign and improvement activities with the focus on exceeding client expectations while streamlining workflows. Prior to taking on the responsibility of the Project Management Office in 2009, Kim held various positions with associated varied responsibilities, within HHS' ICT department. Her original role in delivering operational management of data centre servers continued to grow over the years to include Network Operations, Desktop Architecture, System Architecture and IT Security with stints managing Telecommunications and Partner Hospitals along the way.
Tim leads a team of more than 30 experts who are responsible for core systems including servers, data centres, network and account management. His team is primarily responsible for the overall health, maintenance and availability of most of the computer systems in the hospitals including all the servers, network and access to the applications. Tim began his career in healthcare IT at St. Peter's Hospital in 1996 and joined Hamilton Health Sciences as Manager of Operations in 2008.
Manager, Customer Services
Sue has worked in Customer Service roles at Hamilton Health Sciences for her entire career. She joined the ICT team in 1999 and today is responsible for managing the Customer Service team including the Help Desk, whose primary responsibility is to manage all the inbound calls from the various client groups the Help Desk serves, including staff who provide deskside support.
Manager, Cancer Systems
John manages a team of IT professionals who support the Juravinski Cancer Centre; a role he has held since 2004. He oversaw the major transition from OPIS to MOSAIQ in 2011 and is also responsible for supporting Partner sites at Walker Family Cancer Centre, Joseph Brant Hospital and Brantford General Hospital for extended cancer services. John's leadership is a major contributing factor to the successful growth of HITS' ability to integrate services and models to build a future in cancer treatment, delivery and services.
Director, HITS Infrastructure Service & Solutions
Angelo brings many years of progressive experience in managing information technology projects both in and outside of the healthcare industry. He developed his skills and leadership expertise working for a variety of large and smaller organizations and is well versed in applying the use of technology to solve business challenges. At HITS, Angelo is responsible for system wide Information Technology planning, and execution within the following service areas: Helpdesk, customer support, technical services, data centre operations, and network architecture. He demonstrates his engagement and commitment to high quality service delivery in every initiative he undertakes.
Brenda is responsible for all telephony systems and services including switchboards, answering service, pocket paging infrastructure, and mobile devices. Brenda worked at HHS for eight years in an IT capacity and has since been with St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton for more than 14 years. Brenda is proud to manage a dynamic team that contributes significantly to the successful IT operations of these healthcare organizations. Prior to joining St. Joseph's, Brenda worked for Royal Ottawa Healthcare Group in its IT department supporting telephony and clinical applications.
Manager, Biomedical Technology Services
Mike manages HHS' Biomedical Technology Services which is now integrated with HHS' ICT department. He is a Certified Clinical Engineer (CCE) and Biomedical Engineering Technologist (CBET), and his department manages over 16,000 devices being used at HHS. Mike is chair of several HHS committees dealing with medical device safety including device-related occurrences, laser safety, alarms management, electrosurgery safety, and ultrasound technical support. He is the Vice President of the Canadian Medical and Biological Engineering Society (CMBES), chairs the CMBES Peer Review committee and has formerly chaired the Professional Affairs, Publications, and Membership committees. He is a former chair of AAMI's BIT Editorial Board in the United States and has been moderator for the CMBES Webinar Series for the last two years. Mike has published several featured Health Technology Management papers and articles. He is currently the Treasurer for the 2015 World Congress for Biomedical Engineering and Medical Physics (Toronto) and chairs the WC2015 Finance Committee.
Medical Director, HITS Informatics
Dr. Lloyd has been Medical Director of Clinical Informatics at Hamilton Health Sciences since 2008, and as such leads physician engagement, adoption and oversight of all informatics initiatives at HHS. He also served as the HNHB LHIN/HHS Medical Informatics Liaison since 2009. Dr. Lloyd has been an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at McMaster University since 1998 and maintains his clinical practice in Pediatric Critical Care. From 2003 to 2008 he led the development and expansion of the service as Medical Director and Division Head of Pediatric Critical Care at McMaster Children's Hospital.
Senior Manager, HITS eHealth Office
Dale has 28 years of diverse computing experience and has held a number of senior management positions in the healthcare, insurance and government sectors. He has directed significant multi-hospital information system and eHealth initiatives, including support for these initiatives such as portfolio management, stakeholder engagement, change management, accreditation, re-engineering, governance and regional agreements. As Senior Manager of eHealth, Dale leads a team of 35 professionals and has been instrumental in securing multi-million dollar funding support. He has presented at several national and international eHealth and mHealth conferences, and is a member of Infoway's National Change Management Reference Group.
HITS Security Office
Gary has over 20 years experience working in the public and private sectors. The majority of that time has been with Hamilton Health Sciences, where Gary has led key security, infrastructure and policy initiatives that have made Hamilton Health Sciences a leader in security in the healthcare sector. He oversees a dedicated team of security staff that understands the unique requirements of healthcare security. With HITS, Gary and his team will use innovative solutions to bring local and regional requirements together to fulfill the security needs of today, ensuring our clients' environments are safe and secure.
